Why should you get REAL? It's way too glib to say that life's what you make it, and you get out what you put in… relationships aren't like Physics… there's not an equal and opposite reaction to your actions. Sometimes you get no feedback at all. However, the investment you make often determines the return - even if it is zero. Relationship equity is less plus or minus, more positive:negative. Whole numbers matter less than being whole-hearted. If you give life your all, then relationship equity tends to accrue in your favour even when you're not looking for a return. But perversely, there's only one thing less attractive than not trying hard enough - and that's trying too hard. In order to understand emotional relationships, we have to appreciate physical relationships and perhaps set aside financial relationships. Each of us has a relationship with everything on the Earth (and thanks to gravity we have a fairly constant relationship with the Earth - though our feet aren't always on the ground). REAL is a really simple book. It's not been written to bamboozle. It's not an emotional directory or personal sat-nav (Platt-nav?;-) I certainly don't claim it will change your life… but if your life needs changing, you could do a lot worse than getting REAL as a start point… whether you buy the book or not.
